HOW TO KNOW YOUR PERFECT SHOE SIZE
A considerable amount of people do not know their shoe sizes and often buy the wrong fit when shopping for shoes, sometimes people are able to return wrong-fit shoes, however, that depends on the store policy and sometimes people wear these wrong-fitted shoes anyway and this could cause Ingrown nails, Blisters and even Athlete’s foot. Below are the best methods to know your actual shoe size.
1.
TRYING
ON DIFFERENT SHOES TILL THEY FIT.
Getting
the opportunity to try on as many shoes till you get your perfect size, this
could be in a store, or maybe your personal shoe collection. It is normal for
your feet to swell a little throughout the day so it is best you try on shoes
in the afternoon to get your perfect size, there should be some room between
your longest toe and the internal walls of the shoe and then you should be able
to slip in a finger between your heel and the end of your shoe it should not be
too tight and it shouldn’t be too free. If the shoe type/brand requires you to
wear a pair of socks, you should wear a pair when trying on the shoes.
Moreover, be sure to try the shoes on both feet. When you find a shoe size that fits and feels comfortable on you, you can walk around the room to get a feel for it. After you realise the shoes are the correct fit, you may check the inner tag or the shoe's sole to determine your usual size. Although shoe sizes vary by brand and region, it's crucial to be aware of the size chart for the area in which you bought the pair of shoes so that you can determine your ideal size.
2. MEASURE YOUR FEET ON A PIECE OF PAPER.
Get a ruler, paper, and a pen, then ask someone to help you. Put a piece of paper on a hard, flat, and smooth surface. Place your heel on the wall and place your other foot on the piece of paper. Request that the person helping you draw a line tracing your foot while you stand up straight and balance on both feet (this is a little ticklish). Measure the length and width of the paper tracing with a ruler or piece of tape, and then use the measurements to find your actual shoe size on a size chart.
3.
USE A FOOT-MEASURING DEVICE.
Over the years,
a couple of foot-measuring devices have been produced but the most generally
accepted is the Brannock device, it has been around since 1929 and is still
being used today, most recent versions of this tool can measure both men's and
women's shoe fit on the same unit. It has a left and right heel cup for each
foot, a moveable bar to gauge your foot width, and an arch length bar to determine
your precise arch length. Shoe
sizes and foot sizes are not the same. The foot needs adequate room within the
footwear to remain comfortable and allow you to perform at your best. The
Brannock Measuring Device is designed to indicate the correct shoe size, not
just foot size, allowing you to function in comfort.
